Voter awareness campaign
The Political Science Department of William Carey University in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra conducted a Voter Awareness Campaign on the University campus in Nongmensong, Umkdait on Tuesday. The chief electoral officer, Frederick Roy Kharkongor IAS, and T Lyngwa additional electoral provided information regarding the use of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail in the upcoming elections. The University also conducted the campaign in Mawkasiang.
VVPAT training
Training of District Level Master Trainer on Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial was held for all the election officials of the district at DRDA Conference Hall, West Garo Hills Tura. Additional DC, A V D Shira was also present in the training session. Sumit Dey student of NEHU Tura, and Dipjetera D Sangma were awarded the best campus ambassadors.
Interactive lecture
The Centre for South East Asian Studies Guwahati University will organise an interactive public lecture by Lobsang Sangay, president of Central Tibetan Administration at Guwahati University BKB auditorium on Friday. The topic of the lecture is ‘World Peace, Role of India and Future of Tibet’. Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be present as chief guest and Dr Mridul Hazarika VC, GU will inaugurate the progarmme.

In the news report under the headline, “Appeal to support Diyatom Deb,” it was erroneously mentioned that Diyatom’s father, Kamanamoy Deb, was former Registrar of NEHU. He is former Deputy Registrar.

National Unity Day to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated at University of Science & Technology Meghalaya on Tuesday. The event which was selectively telecast live by Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati, and was attended by nearly 1,000 audiences comprising of students and faculty of ERDF institutions.
