SHILLONG: A sub inspector was suspended on Friday following an alleged case of rape and deceit.
Police said sub-inspector N. Hajong had a relationship with a girl when he was posted at Mawryngkneng police station.
According to police, the sub-inspector promised to marry her, but the girl came to know much later that he was a married man. This led to a quarrel between them and the girl tried to end her life. East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said that on Thursday, the girl lodged a complaint with the police and a case was registered.
“We have already placed him under suspension and he will be arrested for further legal action”, the SP said.
Earlier from Mawryngkneng, the sub-inspector was transferred to Laban and then to Laitumkhrah.
