EC calls poll meet in Delhi

SHILLONG: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold a two- day preparatory meeting with the state chief electoral officer, Frederick Kharkongor, and senior police officials in New Delhi from November 9.
Kharkongor said the purpose of the meeting is to assess the ground situation and discuss the election preparedness and security arrangements in the run-up  to the Assembly elections.
The official said following the meeting in New Delhi, ECI officials will visit Meghalaya to have further discussions before announcing the date for the polls.
