44 persons arrested by Excise Department

TURA: A total of 44 persons have been arrested under Section 5391) (a) of ME Act by the Excise Department of West Garo Hills in separate raids conducted in the entire district during the months of September and October.

During the raids a total of 44 cases were detected including 9 unclaimed cases and approximately 130.755 litres of IMFL and 44.355 litres of ID liquor was seized, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) informed.

According to the DC, 27 of the cases have been disposed off and a fine amounting to Rs 61,750/- realised.
