SHILLONG: The suspense over whether NPP will put up a candidate in Ampati, the constituency of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, is yet to be revealed by the party leadership.
When contacted, NPP national president Conrad Sangma did not reveal the reason for not fielding a party candidate in Ampati but added that the party had not received any applications. He also did not make it clear whether NPP will support any other party candidate in Ampati.
However, state party president WR Kharlukhi recently said that the suspense will be revealed at an appropriate time.
Besides seeking re-election from Ampati, Mukul is also planning to contest from Songsak currently represented by NPP legislator Nihim D Shira.
