SHILLONG: Independent MLA from Khliehriat Justine Dkhar will seek suggestions from his supporters before taking a call on joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Dkhar on Monday said his supporters want him to join BJP but he has not yet decided.
“I will call a meeting of my people for their views and suggestions,” he said and added that he cannot listen to only a few.
He added that he is still an independent MLA and supporting the government from outside.
Dkhar further stated that there are more than 37,000 voters and 65 villages in his constituency.
According to him, people in his constituency wants him to join the BJP since the issue of ban on coal mining has been lingering since 2014 and till date there is no solution to the problem.
The independent MLA stated that he is not against any political party because at the end, he has to listen to the voice of the people. He will call a meeting with his supporters since he is free after resigning from the post of parliamentary secretary.
Earlier, two independents Justine Dkhar and Robinus Syngkon had asserted that they would join the saffron party after both the MLAs met BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi where the duo gave verbal assurance to the saffron party leadership about their entry.
