Folk dancers enthrall Discover North East- Meghalaya 2017

TURA: Folk dancers from different Indian states on Monday enthralled the gathering at the Discover North East – Meghalaya 2017 held at Jengjal Government Secondary School (RMSA) Jengjal in West Garo Hills where Retired Pro-Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus, Dr Milton Sangma graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The programme was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Meghalaya and North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Milton Sangma said that through the programme people were able to experience and witness various culture and traditions showcased by the folk dance troupes from different states of India. He urged the students to acquire knowledge as well as learn about various culture and traditions of the people of India along with their educational learning.

During the programme, folk dance troupes from Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Uttarakhand along with Gondenggre Dance Troup from Garo Hills which represented Meghalaya enthralled the public with their spectacular performance.
