SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has decided to pursue improvement of more roads in the state.
During the hearing on the suo motu PIL on Tuesday, the court said a petition in the form of a letter was received by the court registry regarding the condition of other roads and highways.
The court said the petition will be registered as another miscellaneous case in this matter and a copy of the letter should be given to the counsel for NHAI and also to the government advocate for their response.
The amicus curiae dealing with the assessment of the road in Umsning submitted his report along with photographs.
The court observed that from the submissions made, it appears that the work related to Umsning bypass is in full swing.
The other road work in the area undertaken by the state government has also commenced, the court said.
The amicus curiae will visit the site on November 25 and December 9 as part of filing his report.
The next hearing will be held on December 15.
