One per cent turnout for local film

SHILLONG: Khasi film director and actor, Daniel Nongrum, bemoaned the lack of support the Khasi film industry gets even as Khasi film makers are making attempts to promote the Khasi language and the film industry as a whole in the state.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he said that the percentage of people who watched the movie, “Haban Tony” was only one per cent. “Not much people have come over to watch. Since it is a movie made in Khasi, we urge people to come and watch,” he said. According to Nongrum, the film has made a total collection of Rs 16 lakhs; however, there will be a 50-50 share with the cinema hall owner along with GST.
Informing that the movie will be screened for another week, he said, “There were a total number of 22, 873 people who have come over to watch the movie till today. This will be last week in which the movie will be shown from November 17 till November 23.” He stated that the movie will not be out in CD or DVD form.
