SHILLONG: With four former ANVC-B cadres yet to be traced, the government is not in a position to clear their rehabilitation package.
A police official said there were 363 ANVC cadres who had opted for the package of Rs 1.5 lakh each and out of 139 ANVC-B cadres, the same amount of money was paid to 130 cadres.
While the package will be disbursed to the remaining four cadres, decision on one cadre will be subject to the outcome of a court case, the official said.
However, the remaining four cadres are untraced, the official added.
ANVC had signed suspension of operations in 2004 and after the split, both ANVC and ANVC-B had jointly signed the agreed text for settlement on September 24, 2014.
Later on December 15, both the groups were disbanded.
The official added that after the fresh list of 30 cadres of ANVC-B was submitted, a government-appointed team, headed by a senior police officer, recently visited Garo Hills to check the credentials.
“The matter awaits the decision of the government,” the official added.
To a question, the official said the pending payment for surrendered GNLA cadres is under consideration and their bank accounts have been obtained.
As far as UALA is concerned, settlement with the outfit was that the cadres will avail themselves of Rs 2.5 lakh each and 90 per cent of the cadres availed the amount.
As many as 60 cadres are the beneficiaries of the scheme.
