SHILLONG: The Shillong Round Table 252 will organise a fund-raising project, Brain Humour, by renowned standup comedian Zakir Khan at U Soso Tham auditorium on November 25.
Khan is one of the top standup comedians in the country and is visiting Shillong for the first time.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, chairman of the Shillong Round Table 252, Arnav Chachan, said the organisation has recently adopted Mohan Masar School in Mawprem. The school is not in a good condition.
The funds raised from the event would be used to build infrastructure as the Shillong Round Table 252 has taken the responsibility to construct a new RCC building for the school.
The total project cost is Rs 2 crore and will be taken up in phases. The construction will start from December.
Round Table vice chairman Nilesh Singhani said they expect to raise funds worth Rs 2-3 lakh from the upcoming event and they would organise some more events, including a car rally, for raising more funds for the school.
Earlier, Shillong Round Table 252 had adopted Balika Vidyalaya School on Keating Road and constructed new toilets and septic tanks, besides renovating the existing building.
