SHILLONG: The UDP on Wednesday announced the names of three more candidates for the Assembly elections.
The party’s election sub-committee has approved the names of Nehru Suting from Pynursla, Nujorki Sungoh from Mookaiaw and Mangkara Pathaw, son of JD Rymbai, from Umroi, party secretary Jemino Mawthoh said after a meeting with party members at the residence of UDP president Donkupar Roy on Wednesday.
The party met some of the candidates of constituencies from Khasi-Jaintia Hills and discussed about poll preparation and the political situation in the state.
The party announced its first list in September and the second one in October.
As for the common minimum programme, Mawthoh said, “There is a committee that will prepare the manifesto where we will identify the common issues, agenda and common minimum programme of the party.”
He added that the party is likely to release the common minimum programme during UDP’s general council on December 15.
Expressing optimism that the regional alliance will have its way to lead the state in 2018, Mawthoh said the rhythm of the wind is swaying towards the alliance and people are hopeful that the alliance will get several seats to lead the state in 2018.
