Missing man resurfaces

TURA: A vegetable vendor from North Garo Hills District who, along with another person have remained missing since Friday night mysteriously turned up at his home on Monday night after reportedly being drugged and robbed at Guwahati in Assam.

Jebil Sangma, a resident of Bolmedang Village under Kharkutta Police Station along with his friend, Kalmen Sangma of the same village had gone to Guwahati via train on Friday morning to sell their farm produce in the city. The duo went missing soon after and an FIR was filed in this regard on Saturday by the families of the two victims.

While Jebil has managed to reach home, the whereabouts of his friend Kalmen Sangma is still unknown. The details of how Jebil reached home also remains a mystery as police are yet to get the victims statement as he is still weak and is undergoing treatment in hospital till the filing of this report.

“We still don’t know how he (Jebil) has reached home as he is still weak and unable to give a statement. The details will only be clear once he is fit enough to talk,” North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) (Acting), J F K Marak said.

There are also reports that Jebil walked all the way from Bongaigaon after being drugged and robbed and put on a train, however, police have not confirmed it.
