Man arrested for attempted sale of GNLA weapon

TURA: Police in North Garo Hills district have seized a pistol and arrested a man who was trying to sell the weapon for a sum of money in Bajengdoba region on Tuesday evening. Based on intelligence reports about a possible sale of an illegal weapon, North Garo Hills police laid an ambush in Gabil village area of Bajengdoba around 5 pm. The police team caught a suspect at Solamile, near Gabil, and recovered his possession a 9 mm pistol with four live rounds. The accused Sengban D Sangma,aged 27 years, hailing from Gabil Agalgre village revealed to police that he received the weapon from a GNLA cadre and was trying to sell it in the black market when police caught up with him.
