Relief distributed in EKH villages

SHILLONG: A free relief cum medical camp was organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS), a worldwide philanthropic organisation, in some remote villages in East Khasi Hills recently.
Four hundred families from the economically weaker section of society were provided relief materials such as, blanket, sweater and other clothing items on the occasion.
The beneficiaries were from the villages of Sonatola, Nongkryah, Dhoplo, Kasudeep, Tilagaon Bormon Bari and Lumbiang Ichamati out of which two villages were provided full medical checkup by seven medical teams of BSS.
The beneficiaries were also provided medicines which was assisted by the medical unit of BSS, Pranavananda Seva Niketan, from Jail Road area of the city.
The secretary, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Swami Damodarananda Maharaj; Brahmachari Rabindranath, heads of schools, local village heads and other noted figures of the beneficiary villages attended the day long relief where a community feast was also organised.
Damodarananda said that there was a one hundred percent participation from the villages.
He added that 40kg rice had to be procured further since the feast ran short of food.
The relief camp was a grand success and received appreciation from all quarters.
