Two killed, one injured in separate accidents
On December 12 around 4.20 am, one Maruti Alto car (number not known) fatally knocked down a truck driver identified as Vicky Rapsang (27) while he was getting down from his truck at Pahamrioh (RB). Necessary formalities were observed and the matter is under enquiry.
On December 8 around 8.30 pm, one Bolero pick-up (ML-05Q-1736) driven by Dawanmi Law capsized on the road at Ksehrynshang village in West Jaintia Hills. As a result, the driver died on the spot. Necessary formalities were observed and the matter is under enquiry.
On December 12 around 7 pm, a vehicle knocked down 8-year-old Mebanshai Diengdoh at Kyrdemkhla, Laitlyngkot. Victim sustained injuries and was admitted at Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong.
Peacefulnew Syiemlieh (56) crushed his limbs while jumped from a running truck at Laitumsaw, Sohiong. The victim was admitted at Civil Hospital Shillong.
Illegal coal extraction
Francis Dkhar lodged a complaint that Ro Nongtdu has engaged four of his labourers, one of them named, Weilad Lapasam (40) and three minors aged between 13 to 16 years respectively and illegally extracting coal from his land at a place called ‘Tnad Psuh Tluh’ located at Moola Mylliang village in East Jaintia Hills. The accused has also transported the extracted coal by a truck (DL-05-0705) driven by Phaimon Lamare.
Forgery
Pynhun Bhoi Wahehshnong of Latyrke village in East Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that Dorjee Lama forged his (Wahehshnong) signature for issuing residential certificates to non-tribals for applying Aadhaar Card from the DC office, Khliehriat.
On December 9, Kwilly Nongrem lodged a complaint that N.H Wahlang, Headman and T Syiem, ex-Secretary of Porsohsat village, West Khasi Hills, forged the signatures of the members of the Dorbar in the years 2015 to 2017, and enabled the owners of wine stores, Toreswel Tyrsa, Shandaris L Nonglait and Badaiasuk Thabah to obtain license for opening wine stores in the area. The accused persons also issued NOCs for opening the wine stores.
Woman abducted, assaulted
On December 11, miscreants abducted a woman of Pahamsyiem Nongpoh, assaulted her inside a local taxi (ML-10A-9372) abducted and later dropped her at her residence. The local taxi was later found abandoned at Nongkhrah.
Theft
Rose Mary Thabah lodged a complaint that on December 11 around 4 pm, miscreants stole her purse containing SBI ATM Card and cash. Later in the evening she received text messages that a total amount of Rs. 18,500 has been debited from her account.
Sajinur Begum lodged a complaint that on December 8, miscreants broke into her residence at Hallidayganj in west Garo Hills, and stole gold ornaments, TV set, LPG cylinder, rice cooker and other items valued around Rs. 60,000.
On the night of December 8, miscreants stole battery bank valued around Rs. 2 lakh from Umran village, Ri Bhoi.
On the night of December 4, miscreants broke into the house of Wealstone Roy at Nongmadan, Shadsngi, Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, and stole cash Rs. 3,000 and speaker valued around Rs. 9,500.
Extortion call
Ratan Saha lodged a complaint that on December 6, he received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller demanded Rs. 10,000 from him.
