ECI holds meeting with political parties, police

SHILLONG: Deputy Election Commissioner Chandra Bhushan Kumar and his team held preparatory meetings with political parties and poll officials on Wednesday.
Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Kharkongor said while the Election Commission officials will reveal the outcome of the meeting to the media on Thursday, all aspects related to elections were discussed during the meeting with political parties, deputy commissioners and SPs of all the districts, DGP and the chief secretary.
The election commission officials also held meeting with state departments of personnel, finance and other related agencies to ensure free and fair polls.
The officials will hold a special session on EVM and VVPAT on Thursday.
He also said the Director, Expenditure who is part of ECI also held meetings with the Income Tax Department, commissioner of excise and police officials to check use of money power and liquor during the elections.
