SHILLONG: The general secretary of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), Batkupar Wahlang passed away after prolonged illness on Sunday morning.
Adelbert Nongrum told The Shillong Times about the sudden demise of the party leader who has been associated with the party for 13 years since the year 2004.
“He was a leader of dignity and he was loyal to the party. His death is a huge loss to the party and the party will elect capable leaders for the post of general secretary,” he said.
The death of the leader comes at a time when the party is also preparing for the forthcoming Assembly polls.
Wahlang will be laid to rest on December 26. He is survived by his wife and one child.
