2 held in city for extortion

SHILLONG: The city police have arrested two members from a group, Ki Khlur U Hynniewtrep, for allegedly demanding money from shopkeepers in Police Bazar.
A complaint was lodged that around 12.30 pm on December 26, Bashembok Maring (19) and Bandaplang Nongrum (24) of Ki Khlur U Hynniewtrep, demanded money from the owner of the Raymond showroom in Police Bazar.
Maring is the “finance secretary” and Nongrum the “general secretary” of the group.
Later, after being identified from the CCTV footage in the shop, police arrested them near Meghalaya Urban Development Agency complex in Police Bazar and recovered cash and money receipt book of the organisation from their possession.
