SHILLONG: The city police have made elaborate security arrangement for December 31 to ensure that the New Year spirit is not dampened by drunken brawls, road rogues and petty crimes.
The city on the night before New Year will be under the vigil of patrol teams. East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said there will be checking in different places. All the traffic branches in Shillong have been allotted alcometers to keep a tab on drunken drivers on the night before New Year.
“We will also have special nakas and patrolling parties,” the SP added.
Marak said police would make sufficient traffic arrangements in the city and traffic personnel would be deployed till late night.
