SHILLONG: The NPP national president and Tura MP, Conrad Sangma, is tightlipped about the choice of party candidate for Ampati, the constituency of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
When asked whether the party will put up a candidate in the constituency, Conrad said the matter is yet to be decided.
To a query, Conrad said though he is eligible to contest any seat, the party will decide as to who will contest from Ampati.
Earlier, the NPP had fielded candidates in 23 seats, except Ampati, out of the total 24 Assembly segments in Garo Hills.
NPP state president WR Kharlukhi said NPP will not support BJP in any of the Assembly seats where the party does not have any candidates.
There were media reports that NPP may support the BJP candidate in Ampati.
“We are fighting the polls alone and we are not going to support any political parties,” Kharlukhi said.
