18% of state population under Aadhaar

SHILLONG: Eighteen percent of the population in the state have been covered under Aadhaar according to the Unique Identification Authority if India (UIDAI) at present.
UIDAI website shows that 582033 Aadhaars have generated till December 31 last year. The number is better than Assam where the saturation percentage is 7.4, the lowest among the northeastern states.
According to the website, Aadhaar saturation in Meghalaya for 5 years old is 0.1 per cent with 545 generated unique numbers out of a total population of 442,621.  Aadhaar saturation for 5-18 years old is 12.3 per cent with a total of 385,012 generated Aadhaar out of a projected population of 1,065,297.
