TURA: Chokpot Block NPP members in South Garo Hills on Friday, resigned en masse along with aspiring party candidate, Leoberth R. Sangma alleging dictatorial functioning by Tura MP and National NPP President, Conrad Sangma.
In their resignation letters to Sangma, the members claimed that the genuine voice of the honest party workers was not heard by the party high command which deprived the party ticket to Leoberth. Earlier, the party ticket for Chokpot was allotted to Secondson Sangma.
“Conrad claims of forming a corruption-free government if voted to power. How can he do that if he gives party ticket to those who are unwanted in other political parties,” the members said.
Quoting a statement made by the late P.A Sangma in Parliament which stated that minorities are living in fear due to the atrocities committed by the right wing, the members asked if Conrad can prevent this if the party is in alliance with BJP.
