SHILLONG: More women must be included in the financial schemes implemented by the government said Chief Minister Mukul Sangma during a programme on Friday.
Woman Economic Empowerment, a scheme to provide financial aid to women, was launched by the chief minister at the State Library.
Sangma felt that all women should have bank accounts and they should be having financial literacy.
He, however, cautioned women to be careful from frauds and cheating and digital banking network even as he stressed that financial literacy must be provided in order to prevent fraudulent.
“1.20 lakh families will be covered under this scheme,” said the chief minister.
Later, Mohrendro Rapsang, a Congress ticket aspirant, said that he has asked the chief minister to implement the scheme in different places of the state including West Shillong constituency so that woman can benefit out of the scheme.
Seed money of Rs 5000 was also handed over to beneficiaries.
