SHILLONG: Peeved at ‘wealthy candidates’ getting preference over the ‘poor’ in the National People’s Party (NPP), a party leader from Mawkynrew, Olet Kharsahnoh asserted that he would quit.
Mawkynrew MLA Remington Pyngrope was recently inducted into NPP after he quit UDP.
Kharsahnoh, who feels he has been sidelined by the NPP state leadership, told his supporters at Jongksha village that in June 2017, the party had given him green signal to prepare for the polls. However, he expressed surprise when he was told by the same state leaders to support Pyngrope.
Kharsahnoh said the state NPP leaders chose to avoid the original unit of the party as it “favours only rich people”. He added that there are other parties who are inviting him and his followers to join them.
