SHILLONG: The executive committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has re-appointed Ricky Nelson Syiem as the acting Syiem of the Hima Mylliem.
The EC in its order on January 9 has revoked the order of January 4 that ordered removal of Ricky from the post of acting Syiem and had appointed Ainam Manik Syiem in place of Ricky.
In the January 9 order, the KHADC executive committee has stated that Ricky will continue as the acting Syiem of the Hima Mylliem as per the appointment letter from the council.
Later, speaking to reporters, Ricky said he has the support of 28 Myntris. He added that he was neither arrested nor detained but was asked by the court to appear before it, which he had forgotten to do.
With regard to the Rs 4-lakh shortage, he said the money amounting to Rs 4,13,750 will be recovered.
“The money is not missing as alleged (by Ainam Manik). But when Myntris need money we give them and they duly return the money. We maintain a register and do not make any entry in the cash book,” he added.
Ainam Manik had alleged that over Rs 4 lakh was missing from the treasury and it was decided that Ricky would be asked to return the money.
