SHILLONG: BJP Meghalaya in charge Nalin Kohli has said the party would announce its candidates after the formal declaration of the election date.
Speaking to The Shillong Times over the phone from Guwahati, Kohli said the election committee usually meets after the poll date is announced.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah are in the election committee and a broad analysis is expected. The party had also carried out surveys to identify potential candidates.
Kohli will come to Shillong on Thursday.
Responding to a query about ticket allocation to the four MLAs who joined the party recently, Kohli said the four MLAs prior to their joining met the central leadership and their concerns were addressed in that meeting.
Modi and Shah will meet the party’s general secretaries on Thursday during which they are expected to take stock of the current political situation.
The meeting comes as the party gears up to fight a number of assembly polls, including the key election to the Karnataka Assembly, and the Modi government readies to present its final full-fledged budget.
