SHILLONG: The scheduled meeting of the Congress’s election committee at the residence of DD Lapang on Friday was cancelled without announcement of a new date.
A party functionary said no reason was cited for cancelling it.
A member of the election committee said AICC leader CP Joshi was not free. However, the Congress is waiting for the announcement of poll date to finalise the candidates.
After the election committee decides on the list of candidates, it will be forwarded to AICC for final approval.
Four Independents and one NCP legislator (Marthon Sangma) had applied for party ticket.
