Meghalaya Day to focus on mass cleaning drive

TURA: Meghalaya Day, which is celebrated every year on January 21, will be celebrated this year on January 22 on account of January 21 being a Sunday.

In this regard, the district administration of West Garo Hills is organising a mass cleaning drive on January 20 at 7:00 A.M. in the entire district. Deputy Commissioner of the district, Ram Singh has requested all Area Locality Development Committees to organise cleaning drives on the day in their respective localities to keep it green and clean.

The local bodies have also been urged to segregate plastic/bottles from other debris which will be taken for disposal by vehicles provided by the Tura Municipal Board (TMB).

The Deputy Commissioner also informed that awards will be given for cleanest locality which will be announced later.
