SHILLONG: Philabet Syiem from Umden Diwon will be receiving the young achievers’ award for eri- silk weaving among others from the North-east instituted by Dalmia Bharat Cement.
The cement company celebrated the 5th edition of Dalmia Bharat Cement Young Achievers Award day in Guwahati.
A postal stamp, postal cover and the calendar was also unveiled depicting eight young achievers in varied disciplines of performing arts and cinema, journalism, eco-entrepreneurship, architecture, agriculture and sportsmanship.
This year’s winners are Gokul Paul for terracota from Gauripur (Assam), Krishna Kanta Bora for mask making from Majuli (Assam), Manoj Deka for bell metal from Sarthebari(Assam), Binita Baishya for silk weaving from Sualkuchi (Assam), Thenurovino Sophi for shawl-weaving from Khonoma (Nagaland), Suman Sutradhar for bamboo craft from Agartala, Lungrei Sasa for black stone utensil from Ukhrul-Longpi (Manipur), Banajit Thakuria of Asomiya Pratidin for journalism from Guwahati, Hma Das for sports from Assam, Famaus Phukon for performing arts from Sivasagar(Assam), Dr Bitupona Deori for women empowerment from Guwahati (Assam), Kafiluddin Laskar for masonary from Jorhat (Assam) and Tarali Goswami for eco tourism and Nature Conservation from Nalbari (Assam).

The award calendar focuses on the eight extraordinary young craftsmen/women who practice and excel in different traditional art forms.
