SHILLONG: Laban police on Tuesday evening arrested a person, Mitesh Kumar Pandit, on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a minor girl on the pretext of giving her Rs 50.
Locality head, Pyrkhat Mylliemngap said the girl was playing with her friends on the roadside when Pandit came on a bike (ML 05 M 4354) and called her to accompany him after offering her Rs 50. He was staying as a tenant in one of the houses in the locality. However, some residents became suspicious of Pandit’s move and informed the Dorbar Shnong who in turned called the police.
The matter is under investigation.
