SHILLONG: The Election Department has asked the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner to inquire the case of an SMS being circulated mentioning that former MLA Sanbor Shullai was giving ‘FIMMA Self Employment Scheme’.
The text message sent from the phone number 9436997888 also asks the beneficiaries to collect the forms at 8am on Friday from Shullai’s residential office at New Kench’s Trace in Bishnupur.
Meanwhile, reacting to a report about distribution of forms for the women’s empowerment programme on Thursday after the announcement of the election date, which was in violation
of the model code of conduct, Shullai said he distributed enrollment forms for primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In a letter issued on Friday, Shullai said there was no violation of the model code of conduct.
However, Shullai’s claim contradicts the version of several beneficiaries who availed themselves of the forms of the Shillong Municipal Board beyond 12pm on Thursday. A copy of the form is with The Shillong Times as collected from one of the beneficiaries.
