SHILLONG: Former Congress Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from Mawkyrwat constituency, Rowell Lyngdoh has gone on record saying that he and his colleagues have taken the right decision to join NPP.
“In my opinion, I am right and the others are right by choosing NPP since the party will definitely increase its tally and we may even form the government,” Lyngdoh said.
He pointed out that the party leaders, including him, have started campaigning in their respective constituencies even as he added that he was not approached by the Congress to reconsider his decision.
“The question of going back does not arise anymore since the Congress has its own way of getting people into their fold and we have our own way,” he added.
Expressing confidence that the NPP will do well in the Khasi and Jaintia hills region, he claimed that the people’s response has so far been very positive.
Maintaining that the NPP is an independent party, Lyngdoh said that it may well have a post-poll alliance with other parties in case it falls short of a majority. Rowell Lyngdoh, along with seven others deserted the Congress and joined NPP recently.
