SHILLONG: Congress spokesperson Ronnie Lyngdoh has denied allegations levelled by NCP leader Praful Patel that the state Congress did not do justice to two of its MLAs, Sanbor Shullai and Marthon Sangma, because the former was not accommodated in the Cabinet.
Ronnie on Tuesday asserted that the AII India Congress Committee may well have found something objectionable and stayed the proposal of Shullai’s elevation to the Cabinet, adding that the party is bound to take the AICC’s approval in all such matters.
“Maybe the AICC did not find the move acceptable,” he said.
Ronnie further said that Patel’s statement was simply an allegation and it is not necessary that MLAs from an alliance partner have to necessarily be accommodated in the Cabinet.
“So many Independent MLAs worked with us but nobody ever raised any such issue. We don’t know why Praful Patel is making an issue now,” he said.
Earlier, Patel had alleged that Sanbor was asked to resign from the post of Deputy Speaker after being promised a ministerial berth which he never got.
