SHILLONG: Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) working president, Adelbert Nongrum slammed other parties in Meghalaya stating that only KHNAM and Congress worked alone whereas the rest of the parties are “BJP parties.”
He made this blistering statement while addressing a gathering at Mawhati constituency to confirm the KHNAM Mawhati constituency committee on Monday.
The BJP was using other political parties in the state, he alleged.
Nongrum also criticised the Chairman of People’s Democratic Front (PDF), PN Syiem who is also the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), for bringing in toothless laws under traditional heads.
Syiem bore the brunt of criticism for his inability to amend Rule 128 of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils), Rules, 1951.
Rule 128 bars non-tribals from taking part in the Council elections and allowing only indigenous tribals to vote.
