R-Day events
Together with the rest of the country, Republic Day will be celebrated on January 26 in the State of Meghalaya. In Shillong, the Governor of Meghalaya, Ganga Prasad will hoist the National Flag and take the salute. The Raj Bhavan will also be open to the public on January 25- 26 (Thursday & Friday) from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Dry day
The Deputy Commissioners of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin and the District Magistrate, North Garo Hills has declared January 26 as Dry Day in all districts of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills District, Ri Bhoi and North Garo Hills on account of Republic Day.

SK Oil released
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin has informed that SK Oil for the month of January, 2018 has been released through S. K. Oil Sub-dealers.

Lok Adalat
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Shillong under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi will hold the National Lok Adalat on all subject matters on February 10 in the High Court of Meghalaya, all District Courts, all District Adalat notice may appear personally before the Lok Adalat benches for settlement of their dispute amicably Council Courts, and all Sub-Divisional Courts. Legal camp
The Secretary, Distric Legal Services Authority, East Khasi Hills District has informed that the Legal Service Camp scheduled for January 25 at Smit Village, East Khasi Hills District has been rescheduled to January 27 from 10:30 am onwards.

Two-min silence
In connection with observance of silence on January 30 in memory of those who gave their lives for independence, a two-minute silence will be observed at 11:00 am in the whole State. The commencement and termination of the silence will be indicated by army gunfire and sirens.

Section 144
The District Magistrate of South West Khasi Hills District has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting all arms license holders to carry arms in the whole District till the completion of the election process in view of the Model Code of Conduct. All arms license holders are directed to deposit the same at Mawkyrwat Police Station, Ranikor Police Station or Nonghyllam Police Station.

Condolence
A meeting of LJP Meghalaya Executive Committee was held on Tuesday to condole the death of Fr James Poonthuruthil. The members and office bearers observed a two-minute silence.

Blood donation
Meghdoot Club will organise a blood donation camp at Lumparing Community Hall, Mynsain from 10 am to 1 pm in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS on the occasion of Republic Day on Friday.
