SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Prestone Tynsong has maintained that he does not aim to become the chief minister of the state but wants to see changes around.
He was addressing a public rally organised by the NPP Pynursla Block at Wahlyngkhat ground, Pynursla, on Saturday.
Quashing speculations that he left the Congress to become the chief minister, Tynsong said if it is the will of God for him to take over the chief ministerial seat, he will serve the public with the guidance of God.
Tynsong pointed out that there has been criticism against the MLAs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, Comingone Ymbon, Rowell Lyngdoh and Ngaitlang Dhar of the Congress, Remington Pyngrope ( UDP) and Independents Stephanson Mukhim and Hopeful Bamon) who switched over to NPP camp.
“No matter how much we are criticised, we will get only stronger,” he said.
Informing the gathering that NPP will release the party manifesto on February 3, he said that the manifesto will prioritise the struggles of the farmers, daily wage labourers and other marginalised groups.
On the other hand, Tynsong urged his supporters to refrain from poll-related violence and said, “You should be cool and calm and maintain your dignity.”
Meanwhile, WR Kharlukhi said Pynursla constituency had produced a chief minister in BB Lyngdoh while projecting Tynsong as another chief ministerial candidate from Pynursla.
The Dhar brothers, Mukhim and Pyngrope, who also spoke, rallied behind Tynsong as the CM candidate.
