SHILLONG: The interaction of AICC president, Rahul Gandhi with women here at the St Edmunds College on Wednesday took an emotional turn when a woman cancer patient from Malki, Foster Warlarpih, sought the help of the AICC chief.
The old woman with tears in her eyes sought the help of Rahul Gandhi saying she is facing a lot of problem to treat her ailment.
Rahul Gandhi responded positively and Laitumkhrah MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh who was also present on the occasion explained to Gandhi about the problems faced by her in the wake of steep increase in the prices of generic medicines following implementation of Goods and Service Tax.
She said at one point of time, she was managing her chemotherapy but now all the medicines have become expensive and she was finding it tough to get her treatment done
Later, Ampareen Lyngdoh informed that the AICC chief Rahul Gandhi wanted the state leaders to update him on what action had been taken to help the woman and Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma has been asked to look into the matter.
Earlier while taking questions, Rahul continued his attack on the BJP Government at the centre saying that India has always seen a Government which respected different cultures, ideas and there was not so much hatred as it was prevalent today.
“Modi Government is imposing one idea on the country and they don’t believe in allowing different people to have their own ideas and language,” he said
He also alleged that they intended to change the Constitution and make India of RSS which is dangerous and harmful even as he cautioned that now a more polarised and aggressive BJP would come to the people ahead of the polls.
