SHILLONG: Laitumkhrah MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh’s wealth has swelled over 100 times since 2008, when she first contested the state election, crossing the Rs 1-crore mark.
Lyngdoh’s moveable assets are valued at Rs 31,47,349 in 2018 as compared to the year 2008 when the value was less than Rs 30,000. During the 2009 bypolls, Lyngdoh’s moveable assets were valued over Rs 9 lakh.
Four years later, in the 2013 Assembly elections, her moveable assets had crossed Rs 21 lakh.
The affidavit filed by Lyngdoh says her spouse, F Joseph Lakadong, has moveable assets worth Rs 67,81,160. Lyngdoh has deposits in different banks worth Rs 20,06,349 while she owns one car worth Rs 1,00,000.
According to the affidavit filed in 2008, Lyngdoh had only one account with a nationalised bank and an amount of Rs 15,518.34. The total current market value of Lyngdoh’s immovable assets is Rs 1.44 crore, which includes non-agricultural land worth Rs 99 lakh and a residential building worth Rs 45 lakh. This is in sharp contrast with the information provided in the 2008 affidavit that shows the leader did not own any land or house and it remained unchanged in 2009 and 2013.
Lyngdoh, who did her PhD from NEHU in 2012, owns three plots at Laitumkhrah, Umroi Nongrah and Ri Bhoi whose total market value is Rs 99 lakh approximately. The minister also owns two storied residential buildings on Nongrim Road worth Rs 45 lakh.
Her spouse has three cars and one motorcycle, all worth more than Rs 2,20,000.
