Awareness on EVM, VVPAT to be held for voters in Tura

TURA: In view of the upcoming assembly elections, an EVM and VVPAT awareness programme is being held at the Election Warehouse building behind the deputy commissioner’s office on February 2 from 11 am to 3 pm.

Informing this, West Garo Hills District Election Officer said that the objective of the programme is to acquaint the voters with the machines and also as part of confidence building measures relating to the general elections, during which, all polling officers under the district have been requested to attend.

The DEO further informed that the Election Control Room and Complaint Monitoring Cell have been set up at the District Disaster Management office building in Tura. He added that the cell would function 24/7 all throughout the elections and register complaints and reports for which telephone and mobile numbers- 03651-222001 and 7640970498 have been installed.
