SHILLONG: In an act to ensure the compliance of the directions of the Chairman of NHAI, NHAI PIU Shillong has constructed Highway Nest (Mini) at Deingpasoh Toll Plaza at Mawkhunu Village on the Shillong Bypass Project Highway which was inaugurated by Lt Col Rajeev Malhotra, Project Director, National Highways Authority of India, PIU Shillong on Wednesday.
The Deingpasoh Toll Plaza in Meghalaya is the first Toll Plaza in the north east with Highway Nest (Mini) facility which will provide relief to the Highway users.
Toilet facilities for men and women are also available.
The operation & maintenance of the Highway Nest (Mini) will be undertaken by NHAI Concessionaire M/s Shillong Expressway Pvt. Ltd. as a short term measure and thereafter, the Meghalaya State Tourism Department will take over operations after the election and tendering process is completed.
Tree plantation and distribution of books and stationery to children below poverty line were also undertaken by the project director during the event.
