SHILLONG: Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh said on Saturday that he did not want to be the chief minister but would work for the party in whichever position he was assigned to.
The Congress leader, who filed his nominations for Sohiong constituency on Saturday, sounded confident that the Congress would come back to power.
“Without an iota of doubt, the Congress will come back to power with absolute majority,” he told media persons.
Lyngdoh, who is set to have a straight fight with HSPDP’s Samlin Malniang, vehemently denied any anti-incumbency factor in Sohiong saying, “Employees who are working in different offices in my constituency are satisfied with my performance as an MLA.”
“My people are with me and they will vote for me,” he added and put emphasis on winning the confidence of people.
When asked if it would be a tough fight for him, Lyngdoh said, “There is always a fight in elections and you have to perform better like a football team and whichever team performs better will win the match.”
