SHILLONG: The leader of the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), Adelbert Nongrum, has said the party would be willing to work with any political party that respects its issues.
Nongrum is among the eight candidates that KHNAM has fielded.
Speaking to media persons after filing his nomination papers from North Shillong here on Saturday, Nongrum, who is a former KHADC chief and sitting MDC from Jaiaw constituency, said the party would place a white paper and it would work with any party that considers its issues.
The leader said he was confident of winning the North Shillong seat. Nongrum had unsuccessfully contested in the last 2013 elections.
“This is because in the last election even the genuine non-indigenous voters had not refused me when 1,200 of them voted in my favour,” he said and added that the party’s eight candidates would be the alternatives for the people of the state.
