Most MDCs of KHADC in race for Meghalaya Assembly

SHILLONG:  Most of the members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) now seem to be inclining towards entering the portals of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly as almost the entire KHADC House is contesting the Assembly polls barring a few MDCs.

Out of 29 MDCs in the KHADC, 24 sitting MDC are contesting the MLA elections mostly as PDF candidate.

Some of the popular MDCs who are contesting the polls include the Chief Executive Member PN Syiem, Adelbert Nongrum, PT Sawkmie, Donkupar Sumer, Grace Mary Kharpuri and others.

While the almost entire KHADC is contesting the polls, some citizens of the state also questioning as how the Council is functioning since most of the MDCs are busy campaigning for themselves.

The only five MDCs who have opted out of the poll race are Victor Ranee, Jansing M Tynsong, Lamphrang Blah, Equator L Nongrang and Manstudy Nongrem.

When contacted, KHADC CEM, PN Syiem, however, downplayed the whole issuing saying the MDCs should know   as how to frame their timings to ensure that the works of the council is not affected.

He also said that though he was an MDC and MLA at the same time, he utilised his time efficiently and completed all the works.
