TURA: Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor and Additional Chief Electoral Officer T Lyngwa met the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of the Garo Hills districts at DRDA Conference Room in Tura on Saturday.
Kharkongor reviewed the districts’ poll preparedness.
On connectivity and the challenges faced in the region, Kharkongor stressed the need to have backup sources from different service providers to ensure smooth polling, especially for webcasting and news updates.
The CEO said solar lanterns will be distributed among authorities in all the Garo Hills districts to tide over erratic power supply.
With regard to the theme of Accessible Election, he requested the district election officers to ensure that there are ramps and other required facilities at polling stations. Special assistance for PWD voters is also mandatory.
The district election officers have to send updates on time.
