12  injured in mishap at Iew Mawlong

SHILLONG: In a case of sheer negligence, a Maximo pick-up vehicle knocked down as many as twelve people   at Iew Mawlong, Shillong on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said that the incident happened on Tuesday   around 3.55 pm, when one Maximo pick-up vehicle (ML/05-Temp/2018-1636) knocked down 12 people.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Pynshailang Kharlyngdoh (24) and the coolie identified as Bimol Chettri (24).

“It seems that the porter (coolie) was driving the vehicle when the accident happened, however, both of them were in a drunken state.” Police said.

The victims involved in the accident included Amar Chettri (45), Navim Chettri (45), Jenisha Lyngdoh (26), William Masi (25) Kiden Lyngwa (15) Angel Steve Mairom
(14), Akanas Mawphiniew (20), Margret Kharlukhi (32) and Denis Rani (25).

The pedestrians sustained injuries and were removed to Civil Hospital Shillong and Woodland Hospital, Shillong.

Police said that the people who were driving the vehicle were drunk while the condition of two people is critical.
