Election duty
The office of the officer in charge of Civil Defence, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, requires trained Civil Defence & Home Guards volunteers for duty in the upcoming Assembly Elections. Interested volunteers may report to the Civil Defence office, Umlyngkdait near DC Bungalow, Nongpoh or contact 9856388710/ 9862204818 at the earliest.

Notice
The Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has directed that all licensed arm holders within Ri Bhoi District to deposit their arms to the nearest Police Station/Police Outpost by February 20.

Code of conduct
The Election Commission of India has been notified of objectionable message on SMS and Facebook/Whatsapp being sent by individuals with vested interest in the ensuing election, violating the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. The Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District has requested the general public to forward the said SMSs along with the number of the sender or post and URL incase of social media like Facebook or call the Police Control Room. Prohibition order
The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has issued an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting plying of overloaded coal trucks on National Highway and State Roads beyond permissible load as this will create road blockade and cause obstruction to the general public.

Section 144
To ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the ensuing election in the district and to avoid any disturbances for plying of vehicles carrying polling parties, police personnel, officers on election duty, the District Magistrate, West Khasi Hills District Nongstoin has imposed an order under Section 144 CrPc prohibiting plying of all coal and timber loaded trucks within the District of West Khasi Hills from 6 am on February 25 to February 27 midnight. This order has come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force for two months.

Seminar
The Research & Innovation Committee and the Institutional Ethics Committee of Lady Keane College will be jointly organising an international seminar on the theme ‘Ethical challenges and contemporary issues in creative research : Uniformity vs creativity’ from February 19-20 at the college seminar hall.
