‘Children’s safety’ awareness held in Garo Hills

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, North Garo Hills, Resubelpara organized a sensitization programme for parents on ‘Personal Safety Education of Children’ at the SGSY Hall in Resubelpara on Thursday.  
Theilin Phanbuh, chairperson, MSCW attended the programme along with MSCW members Iadalin Tariang, Rebina Subba and Annie.
Addressing the gathering, Phanbuh spoke about personal safety education which empowers parents with the necessary knowledge and skills to educate their children and prevent them from sexual abuse.
She also urged them to seek help and to alert authorities they witness any type of abuse in order to bring the abuser to justice.
The programme also marks the celebration of ‘International Women’s Week’ which is being observed from March 1 to 8 under the theme ‘Press for Progress’. 
Resource persons from Faith Foundation also took part in the programme and interacted with the gathering.
