SHILLONG: The full budget of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will be presented on March 27 next.
“After the discussion of the District budget which is a budget of the state government, the House was prorogued for a few minutes and subsequently the usual session was held,” KHADC Chief Executive Member PN Syiem told reporters on Tuesday.
He said that the Chairman of the KHADC, LG Nongsiej informed the House about the letter written by the KHADC executive committee to pass the full budget.
“As per the rules, to pass the full budget, there has to be a circulation of 7 days before the start of session. Hence, we adjourned the session to March 27 to comply with the 7 days (rule),” he said.
Syiem informed that back in the 80s, the KHADC passed a full budget but later switched to vote on account.
“Now that we have reached the end of March, it is better to pass the full budget,” he said.
The session for the vote on account was supposed to be held on March 20 but the executive committee of the KHADC and the members of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) decided to table a full budget.
