SHILLONG: The timeline to start the retreat ceremony in Dawki between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has been missed once again, thanks to the delay on the part of the Bangladeshi authorities.
An official from the BSF said that the delay to start the ceremony was because of the Bangladesh side even as he hoped that the retreat ceremony would begin soon.
“The day they (Bangladesh ) are ready, we will start the ceremony,” a top official of BSF said.
It was informed that the work for the saluting base has been completed and BSF would also come up other infrastructures such as pavilion and sitting gallery.
It may be mentioned that Dawki is already one of the favourite tourist destinations in Meghalaya.
The place has a border check point and it is used by many tourists to cross over to India as well as Bangladesh.
Apart from the retreat ceremony, BSF is also coming up with other infrastructure for tourists such as a cafeteria, places to sit besides it would also exhibit its weaponry and screen movie on the force for tourists.
On the other hand, the BSF also has plans to develop tourist related infrastructures in Kilapara outpost in Dalu
“We will try to work the start there within this year,” the official said.
The Border Security Force Meghalaya Frontier is seeking to develop two border outposts along the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya into tourist spots on the lines of the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab.
